Licence management, renewals and what happens if you lapse
The ongoing care of your Tempo licence: renewal, payment details, moving sites, and lapse without fear.
Activation and the trial are covered in Getting Started; this article is the ongoing stuff: the once-a-year and the what-ifs.
Renewal
Your licence renews annually and the renewal charges the payment method on file; you'll be emailed ahead of renewal and receipted after it. Nothing needs doing on the site itself; the licence simply continues.
Updating card details happens through the link in your receipt or renewal emails, which takes you to your licence account. Lost the emails? Contact us and we'll sort it.
Your licence covers one site
One licence, one site, with staging environments treated sensibly for development. Moving your site to a new domain or host? The licence moves with a deactivate-and-reactivate: deactivate on the old site (or just retire it), then activate with the same key on the new one. If a move leaves the key stuck ("already in use"), contact us; it's a two-minute fix on our side.
If you cancel or lapse
Told plainly, because it's the question under the question:
- The plugin's screens lock (what "locked" means): members see a neutral "temporarily unavailable" notice, admin screens show the activation panel, and booking, credit and Tempo emails pause.
- Nothing is deleted, ever. Every class, booking, credit balance, consent record and audit entry stays in your database, untouched, for as long as the site exists. Reactivating a licence brings the whole plugin back exactly where it was.
- Your data remains yours regardless: WordPress's export tools, your database backups and the GDPR tooling all keep working at the WordPress level whether or not a licence is active.
So a lapsed card the week before a show is an inconvenience, not a crisis: fix the payment, and the site is back mid-morning.
Support entitlement
An active licence includes updates (delivered to your dashboard automatically) and standard support through the Support page; Club Partner customers have their named contact and next-business-day promise. A lapsed licence pauses updates and support entitlement along with the plugin; everything resumes with the licence.
As covered in the activation article, receipts and licence emails come from our checkout partner and carry that name; for any licence question, your route is always our own Support page, not a third party.
Thanks. That helps us improve these guides.
