The calendar: your whole timetable at a glance
Every session on one screen: month, week, day and list views, filters, live capacity chips, and a detail panel for any date.
Tempo → Calendar puts every generated session on one interactive calendar: month, week, day or list, whichever suits the question you're asking. The Sessions screen remains the place you change things; the calendar is the place you *see* things, and it takes you straight to the right screen when something needs doing.
Your site may use different words. Tempo lets you rename class, student and teacher under Settings → Branding & vocabulary; these docs use the defaults.
Reading the calendar
Each session appears with its class's colour dot, start time and name, plus a booked-count chip showing places taken against capacity, counted the same way as the Sessions list (confirmed and pending-payment bookings both count). The chips carry the state at a glance:
- A full session's chip fills solid.
- An over-capacity session's chip turns red (it counts held places too, matching OVER CAPACITY on the Sessions list).
- Blocked spaces show a small lock with the count held back.
- Cancelled sessions are struck through with the usual Cancelled pill, and finished sessions render dimmed.
Hover any icon and its meaning appears; nothing on the calendar requires memorising symbols.
Filters, views and focus mode
Above the calendar sit filters for term, class (with its colour dot), location and status. Term, class and location are multi-select, so "just the Saturday classes in both studios" is two clicks, and a Clear button appears whenever any filter is set.
The month, week, day and list views share those filters. And when the office wants the calendar and nothing else, focus mode (the toggle at the right of the filter row) expands it to fill the browser window; Escape leaves again, and you're returned to the spot you were scrolled to.
Your working week decides what's shown
The calendar shows the days and hours your business actually works, set under Tempo → Settings → Timetable. Days outside the working week disappear from the month view entirely, and the week and day views run only across your working hours, so a club that teaches Tuesday to Saturday evenings isn't scrolling past empty Mondays and 6am rows.
A session scheduled outside the working window still exists and still appears on the Sessions list; the calendar just doesn't stretch itself to show it. If something seems missing here, check the working week first.
The detail panel
Clicking a session slides in its full detail: date and time, location (tagged when it's a one-date override), teachers, term, the capacity breakdown in the same wording as the Sessions list, any notes, and the cancellation reason if there is one.
Below that sits the attendee list. Each attendee is led by their register mark as an icon (tick for present, amber tick for late, cross for absent, a slashed circle for a reported expected absence, hollow circle for unmarked), with an icon for their booking type (single session, half term or full term) and a pill only when the booking is still awaiting payment. Every icon explains itself on hover.
Attendee names appear only for staff who can also manage bookings. A member of staff with timetable access but not bookings access sees the counts and never the names; the names aren't hidden on their screen, they're never sent to it.
Jumping out to act
The calendar is deliberately read-only in this version: nothing you click here changes a booking or a session, so it's always safe to explore. When something needs doing, the detail panel links you straight there:
- Edit session opens that session's edit form (move it, cancel it, override capacity or teachers; see Editing individual sessions).
- View in Bookings opens the Bookings hub filtered to exactly that session's bookings, past or not.
- Add booking starts a manual booking, for staff with bookings access.
Extra sessions live here too
Dated one-offs created through Add extra sessions (the button sits on the calendar's toolbar as well as the Sessions screen) appear like any other session, tagged as extras in the detail panel. See Adding extra sessions.
The calendar needs the same access as the Sessions list, so administrators and shop managers see it out of the box.
