What is Tempo Book It Box Office?

Tempo Book It Box Office is a separate, free WordPress plugin for selling tickets to performances and events. It is built by the same people as Tempo Book It and shares the Tempo approach (your branding, your vocabulary, no lock-in), but it is its own plugin with its own screens, its own data and its own documentation, which starts here.

You do not need Tempo Book It to run Box Office, and you do not need Box Office to run Tempo Book It. If you use both, they sit side by side on the same site.

What it does

• Reserved seating with a visual seat picker, or general admission with a capacity limit. Each performance is one or the other.
• Checkout with Stripe or PayPal. Guest checkout, no account needed, and card details never touch your site.
• PDF tickets with QR codes, a single party pass for group bookings, and a calendar file.
• Check-in on the door from any phone, with no app to install.
• Orders, refunds and reports per performance.

What it costs

The plugin is free. There is no seat cap, no event cap and no time limit, we do not take a cut of your sales, and we do not add a booking fee to your buyers. Stripe and PayPal charge their usual processing fees, which go to them.

An optional paid add-on, Box Office Pro, adds a drag-and-drop seat designer with curved rows, tables and zones, a continuous scanner that works offline, walk-up sales for cash and card on the door, promo codes, a soft queue for big on-sale days, and deeper reports with CSV export. The free plugin is complete on its own; Pro never unlocks something already in the free download.

Requirements

• WordPress 6.4 or later
• PHP 7.4 or later
• A Stripe or PayPal account to take payment
• An SMTP plugin is strongly recommended so ticket emails always arrive

Where to get it

Install it from Plugins → Add Plugin in your WordPress admin by searching for "Tempo Book It Box Office", or download it from WordPress.org. The product page with the full feature list is at tempo-book-it.com/box-office.

Does it work with the Tempo Book It theme?

Yes. Box Office is built to sit in any theme, and if you use the Tempo Book It theme it also picks up your colour palette and logo slot automatically.
