Quick start: from install to first booking
The whole setup in ten steps, each linking to its detailed guide.
This is the spine of the documentation: the shortest sensible path from an empty WordPress site to a parent booking and paying for a real class. Each step links to the full guide. A first-time setup typically takes an afternoon, most of it deciding your own prices and timetable rather than clicking.
Your site may use different words. Tempo lets you rename class, student and teacher under Settings → Branding & vocabulary; these docs use the defaults.
- Check the requirements and install the two free plugins Tempo builds on: WooCommerce and ACF.
- Install Tempo Book It and activate it. Activation creates your Book classes page and all the plumbing.
- Start your trial or activate your licence. Full plugin, 14 days, nothing held back.
- Run the setup wizard: pick your sport's preset so Tempo speaks your language from day one, and take the matching theme if you want it.
- Set up payments under WooCommerce → Settings → Payments: enable your payment provider (for example Stripe) and connect your account. This is standard WooCommerce; your provider's connection wizard does the work. See Payment gateways.
- Create your duration products: one hidden WooCommerce product per price point (for example "45-minute class" at your single-session, half-term and full-term rates). This is where your pricing lives, and it's the one genuinely new concept in setup, so read How pricing works first.
- Create a term: start and end dates, half-term break, and any excluded dates like bank holidays or show weekends.
- Create your classes and put them on the timetable: day, time, location, capacity, teacher and duration product for each. Saving the timetable generates every session in the term automatically.
- Check the member experience: open your Book classes page in a private browser window as a test parent (register on the site if you're using the matching theme, or add a test parent and child from Tempo's members screen first) and walk a booking through to checkout. Pay with your gateway's test mode if it has one, or book a class you've priced at a pound.
- Go live: when the test booking looks right in Tempo → Bookings, on the order, in the confirmation email and on the register page, share your booking page with members. From here, daily life happens in Bookings & Checkout, Registers and Reports.
Keep Tempo → Dashboard open during setup. Its System health checks (booking page link, background jobs, email sending, timezone) will tell you if any wiring needs attention, before a member finds it.
Made a mess with test data? A website administrator can reset the plugin to a just-installed state with Tempo → Settings → Danger zone → Erase all plugin data (type ERASE to confirm). It erases all Tempo data, which is exactly what you want right before a real launch and never after one.
