Price bands, colours and the buyer view

Give every price band its own colour, read the designer's guidance on colours that clash or look alike, and choose what buyers see printed on each seat.

Price bands are how the same map charges different amounts for different parts of the house. Prices are set per performance; the band is the part of the map they apply to. In the free plugin a band takes a colour from a built-in palette. In Pro you choose it.

Band colours

The Price bands panel in the designer lists every band with a fill and an outline colour. Pick whatever suits your venue; the legend under the buyer's seat picker names each band and its price, so colour is never the only cue.

Colours belong to the venue, so a change applies to every performance at that venue at once.

Colour guidance

The designer checks the colours you choose and says when one will cause trouble:

  • an outline that is hard to see against its fill (it aims for 3:1);
  • seat numbers that will be hard to read on the fill (it aims for 4.5:1);
  • two bands that look alike, including to people with red-green or blue-yellow colour blindness, which is about one man in twelve;
  • a band close to your brand colour, which marks a chosen seat, so buyers may think those seats are already picked;
  • a band that looks like a sold seat, which is grey.

It is guidance only. You can keep a colour it warns about.

The buyer view

Under Buyer view you choose what buyers see on the plan:

  • Show seat numbers on the plan. Buyers always see the seat name in the tooltip, in list view and in the basket; this also prints it on the seat itself.
  • Text on each seat: the number only (7) or the row and number (E7).
  • Show row letters beside each row.

These apply to the seat picker on your site and to the same picker at the box office till.
